Top Armenian, Russian diplomats discuss Azerbaijan's border provocation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Acting Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov over the phone on Wednesday, May 12.

Aivazian informed his Russian counterpart about the recent unrest on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan and stressed the unacceptability of Azerbaijan's provocations.

According to a press release from the Armenian side, the two foreign policy chiefs noted the importance of remaining committed to previously reached agreements in order to ensure the security and stability and taking preventive steps that could destabilize the situation in the region.

As reported earlier, Azerbaijani forces attempted to advance into the southern Armenian province of Syunik. According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, negotiations are currently underway.
