PanARMENIAN.Net - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has taken note of acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements regarding the organization, CSTO spokesperson Vladimir Zainetdinov told RIA Novosti on Wednesday, May 27. He said the member states continue holding consultations on the matter.

Pashinyan told lawmakers on Wednesday that "the speed of CSTO's actions does not satisfy the Armenian side" and that the organization has not clearly stated that Azerbaijan must withdraw its troops from the territory of Armenia. The acting PM did not rule out the possibility of applying to the United Nations Security Council if the CSTO mechanisms are not enough for resolving the situation.

"The information provided by the acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has been taken note of. The work in accordance with the instructions of chairman of the Collective Security Council Emomali Rahmon continues," Zainetdinov said.

Zainetdinov also reminded that Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov said on Tuesday that the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border requires urgent measures, primarily political and diplomatic ones, as well as demarcation and delimitation on said sections of the state border.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25.
