Azerbaijan preparing for first test flight at Fizuli airport on Sept. 5

PanARMENIAN.Net - The first test flight at Azerbaijan's Fizuli International Airport will take place on September 5, Haqqin.az cited Valeh Amiraslanov, a representative for Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) CJSC, as saying on Wednesday, June 16.

Fizuli came under Azerbaijan's control during the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh in fall 2020 and is one of several towns set to host new airports in Azerbaijan.

"By this time, the runway will be commissioned, air navigation equipment will be installed, the construction of an air traffic control tower equipped with automated systems will be completed, which will allow operating flights from the airport in Fizuli in accordance with ICAO and IATA standards," Amiraslanov said.

"By the end of the year, the passenger terminal will be commissioned to provide the infrastructure necessary for the operation of the international airport in Fizuli."
