Martirosyan raised a total of 423kg above his head, and was only outperformed by Akbar Djuraev of Uzbekistan. In the snatch event, Martirosyan lifted 195 kg, setting a new Olympic record. In clean and jerk, however, the Armenian athlete raised 228 kg, failing his second and third attempts.
