Joaquín Caparrós unveils Armenia squad for World Cup qualifiers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Joaquín Caparrós, the head coach of the Armenian national team, has announced a 27-man squad for the upcoming qualifying matches of FIFA World Cup.

Armenia will face the national teams of North Macedonia (September 2), Germany (September 5) and Liechtenstein (September 8).

Caparros gave a press conference on Wednesday, August 25 and revealed that Armenia's all-time top goalscorer and Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan too will return for the fixtures, the Football Federation of Armenia said on social media.

With 9 points in total, Armenia are currently at the top of Group J, followed by North Macedonia and Germany with 6 points each, Romania and Iceland with 3 points each. Liechtenstein, meanwhile, has collected 0 points throughout the qualifications.

The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup finals, while the runner-up will advance to the second round (play-offs).
