Armenia says Azerbaijan hiding real number of captives

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said the Azerbaijani authorities are hiding the real number of the Armenian captives and their places of detention.

Mirzoyan made the remarks at a meeting with Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Gilles Carbonnier on Friday, October 22.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Mirzoyan stressed that the immediate return of the prisoners of war and civilian hostages remains a priority, adding that Baku continues to violate the Geneva Convention and the requirements of the November 9, 2020 statement, creating artificial obstacles for the return of prisoners.

Mirzoyan believes the behavior of the Azerbaijani authorities "creates serious grounds for assuming the existence of a situation of enforced disappearances of prisoners."
