Armenia, Russia discuss Karabakh, Armenia-Azerbaijan border

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian and Russian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergei Lavrov on Monday, November 1 discussed a wide range of issues on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The two weighed in on the implementation of the agreements of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, dated November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021, taking into account the approaching anniversary of the trilateral statement on a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

According to a statement from the Russian side, the Foreign Ministers paid special attention to the settlement of urgent humanitarian problems, primarily the return of captives, the transfer of maps of minefields and the preservation of cultural and religious heritage. They “synchronized watches” on the issues of easing tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, unblocking all transport and economic ties in the South Caucasus, creating a favorable atmosphere for regional cooperation. The top diplomats also emphasized the importance of continuing efforts aimed at political and diplomatic settlement of border incidents between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Topical aspects of Russian-Armenian cooperation were also on the table, taking into account the upcoming bilateral contacts at various levels.
