Canada calls for de-escalation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

Canada has called for de-escalation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border so that a peaceful solution to the conflict may be found, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, November 17․

"Canada is deeply concerned by the recent Armenia-Azerbaijan border clash, which resulted in the deaths of Armenian troops," Mélanie said.

"Our thoughts are with the victims’ families, loved ones and the community. We call for de-escalation so that a peaceful solution to the conflict may be found."

In clashes launched by Azerbaijan on Tuesday, the Armenian side has confirmed the death of 1 serviceman, while 13 others have been captured by Azerbaijan. Two combat positions too have gone under the control of Azeri forces.
