Armenians slam Princeton hosting Azeri envoy's talk on "peace"

PanARMENIAN.Net - More than 50 Armenian organizations, societies and university associations have slammed the Princeton University's decision to provide a prominent platform for Khazar Ibrahim, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the United States, to discuss “peace and cooperation in the Caucasus.”

They wrote a letter to share their opposition to the University’s decision that Ibrahim's government has, in actual fact, acted directly and violently against the interests of both peace and cooperation.

"As has been widely documented, Azerbaijan, backed by Turkish-drafted extremist mercenaries, committed countless war crimes against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh during, before, and after the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war," the letter reads.

"To this day, Azerbaijan continues to invade Armenian sovereign land, choke off water from vulnerable populations, and illegally hold and maltreat hundreds of prisoners of war. Hosting Ambassador Ibrahim –without providing the audience with factual context or offering equal time to critics of the Azerbaijani government – risks normalizing racism and ethnic cleansing by an autocratic regime."

Dozens of videos of Azeri troops cutting the throats and ears of Armenians have been spreading online since the final days of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Azerbaijanis subject the Armenian POWs and captives to physical abuse and humiliation. The videos depict Azerbaijani captors variously slapping, kicking, and prodding Armenian POWs, and compelling them, under obvious duress and with the apparent intent to humiliate, to kiss the Azerbaijani flag. In most of the videos, the captors’ faces are visible, suggesting that they did not fear being held accountable.
