 Late Azerbaijani general's mother says son killed by army chief of staff January 3, 2022 - 15:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The mother of the late Major General of the Azerbaijan Army, Polad Hashimov, has claimed that his son was killed by current army chief of staff Karim Veliyev, according to video footage published by exiled Azerbaijani blogger and activist Mirzali Mahammad. Hashimov was an Azerbaijani major general who served as the Deputy Commander and the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps. According to the country's Defense Ministry, he was killed in clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan in July 2020.   Top stories Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. In 2023, the Azerbaijani government will increase the country’s defense budget by more than 1.1 billion manats ($650 million). The bill, published on Monday, is designed to "eliminate the shortcomings of an unreasonably broad interpretation of the key concept of "compatriot". The earthquake caused a temporary blackout, damaged many buildings and closed a number of rural roads.
