Lavrov separates Armenian-Azeri border from Karabakh settlement

PanARMENIAN.Net - The delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has nothing to do with the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday, January 14

Lavrov told a press conference that Moscow is in favor of an early start of the process of demarcating the border between the two countries.

“However, this does not apply to the Karabakh region and the issue of settlement (of the Karabakh conflict). This is purely a bilateral matter, which we have been proposing to start working on for almost a year now, by creating a commission on delimitation and demarcation,” Lavrov noted.

“Just yesterday I spoke to my Armenian colleague on this topic. In order to create a commission, first of all it is necessary to agree on the conditions, which are now being discussed,” Lavrov said, citing certain differences in the positions of the parties.
