Turkey's local elections results unexpected for ruling AKP
The outcomes of Turkey's local elections were quite unexpected for ruling AKP, an Armenian professor said.

"This is a message to the Turkish government, which is bogged down in corruption," Director of Institute of Oriental Studies at the RA Academy of Sciences, professor Ruben Safrastyan told a news conference on Monday.

"Although AKP managed to retain support in Ankara and Istanbul, it lost authority in a number of other major cities. It's not surprising, since major cities suffered form the economic crisis and were displeased with the measures the government took," he said.
