Karabakh gas pipeline to be repaired once area cleared of mines

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno-Karabakh sappers are de-mining the area that hosts a gas pipeline damaged in the country in recent days, so that repair works can begin, Artsakh authorities have said, according to Armenpress.

The Head of the Information Department of the State Service of Emergency Situations Hunan Tadevosyan made the remarks on Wednesday, March 9, after reports that Azerbaijan was hindering access to the site, which is under their control.

“It seems that negotiations with the Russian peacekeepers have yielded results and now the sappers are on the ground to demine the area,” Tadevosyan added. He said the repair of the pipeline will start only after the combat engineers are done.

The main pipeline supplying natural gas from Armenia to Artsakh has been damaged since 01:00, March 8. The damaged section is near an Azerbaijani military position.
