Syrian parliament speaker invited to Armenia on April 24

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Ambassador to Syria Tigran Gevorgyan has met the Speaker of People’s Council (Parliament) Hammoud Sabbagh and invited him to Armenia on April 24 – the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide – Yerevan's Embassy said on social media Thursday, March 17.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in further deepening and developing relations between Armenia and Syria.

Gevorgyan said Armenia attaches great importance to the official recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the Syrian parliament, which was another evidence of the solidarity between the Armenian and Syrian peoples.

The Ambassador handed over the letter of the Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, inviting the Syrian parliament speaker to visit Yerevan on April 24.

The sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues, with Gevorgyan detailing the Syrian side about the regular provocations of Azerbaijan and the impending humanitarian crisis in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). He also weighed in on the latest developments in the Armenia-Turkey dialogue.
