National team head coach Joaquín Caparrós has apologized for Armenia's crushing 9:0 defeat to Norway, in a friendly match that took place in Oslo's Ullevaal Stadion.
"I think the result speaks for everything. The opponent was much better than our team," Caparrós told a post-match press conference on Tuesday, March 29.
"In addition, the fact that our player was removed from the field played a role. I think it was a very strict decision. From that moment on, our team did not fight."
Defender Arman Hovhannisyan received a red card in the 17th minute of the match.
After the game, the football players and the coaching staff of the Armenian national team issued a statement, pledging to analyze what happened within a short period of time, make relevant conclusions and be ready for the start of the League of Nations in June.
