Pashinyan to travel to Moscow on April 19

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will embark on an official visit to Russia on April 19, according to a statement from Pashinyan's office.

On a phone call on Saturday, April 9, Pashinyan informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the results of his April 6 meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, which was mediated by European Council President Charles Michel.

On April 6, Pashinyan and Aliyev agreed to convene a joint border commission by the end of April, whose mandate will be to delimit the bilateral border between the two countries and ensure a stable security situation along, and in the vicinity of, the borderline.

On Saturday, the two on Saturday, April 9 attached importance to the agreements on signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and launching delimitation works. The President of the Russian Federation expressed readiness to fully support these processes.

The intrusion of Azerbaijani units into the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh was also on the table. Pashinyan said the Armenian side expects the Russian peacekeepers to take concrete measures to ensure the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani units.

Azerbaijan has broken into Nagorno-Karabakh, and the incursion has left three Armenian soldiers dead and at least 14 others injured. On March 24, Azerbaijan stormed into the zone of the responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers stationed in the area and is refusing to completely withdraw its forces from strategic heights.

Pashinyan and Putin then weighed in on issues of economic cooperation between the two countries and agreed that these issues will be discussed in detail during Pashinyan's official visit to Russia on April 19.
