PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has described as "a turning point" the adoption by Yerevan of five principles proposed by Baku for the normalization of relations between the two countries, RIA Novosti reports.

Aliyev gave a positive assessment of his meeting in Brussels with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President the European Council Charles Michel on April 6

"I told the public about this on April 12. The next day, the Prime Minister of Armenia also spoke openly about the process of normalization and the approval by Armenia of the five principles put forward by Azerbaijan," .

"This is really another turning point in the process. I think these are positive comments," Aliyev said during a meeting with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.

According to him, Baku and Yerevan must prove the "seriousness of their intentions".

The President of Azerbaijan also reaffirmed his country's readiness to start work on the establishment of border commissions and working groups on a peace agreement.

In the Belgian capital, Pashinyan and Aliyev agreed to set up a bilateral border commission by the end of April.
