PanARMENIAN.Net - Moscow considers anti-government protest movements in Armenia as an internal affair of the country and does not interfere in said processes, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko told reporters on the sidelines of the 2nd Central Asian Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club Tuesday, May 17.

"This is an internal affair of Armenia: everything that is happening there, and everything that the top leadership of Armenia is coming up with. We are aware of this and do not interfere in these processes," Rudenko said, According to TASS.

The diplomat made the remarks when asked about the negotiation process between Baku and Yerevan on the delimitation and demarcation of the border and the protests in Armenia taking place against this background.

In recent weeks, protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have taken to the streets to block major roads in the capital Yerevan and call on the population to commit acts of civil disobedience. Pashinian has come under fire after he and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev agreed to start drafting a bilateral peace treaty to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and set up a joint commission on demarcating the borders.
