  Turkey, Azerbaijan holding drills near Armeian border May 23, 2022 - 16:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey and Azerbaijan are holding joint military drills in the Turkish city of Kars near the Armenian border, Azerbaijani media reports The Heydar Aliyev-2022 exercises are being held with the participation of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Turkey and the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced earlier in the year that its Armed Forces were expected to take part in more than 30 international exercises and competitions in 2022. In 2023, the Azerbaijani government will increase the country’s defense budget by more than 1.1 billion manats ($650 million). Across a swathe of southern Turkey, people sought temporary shelter and food in freezing winter weather. The earthquake caused a temporary blackout, damaged many buildings and closed a number of rural roads.
