Top Armenian, Russian lawmakers talk bilateral ties

PanARMENIAN.Net - President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan and Speaker of Russia's State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin met on Monday, June 6 to discuss relations between the two countries.

Both parties recorded the need of holding events designed at decent level corresponding to the allied character of the Armenian-Russian relations.

Ideas were exchanged over the Armenian-Russian interstate, allied cooperation. The cooperation, the persistent improvement legal-contractual wide base in the military-political and military-technical fields, the successful partnership in the trade-economic, inter-regional and humanitarian spheres were especially highlighted.

During the talk the parliamentary bilateral format was observed as a very important component of the strategic relations, which promotes the jointly active and constructive work.

Simonyan reminded his colleague that the Armenian side designs to publish the collection of documents “Armenia-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation 1992-2021.”

To Volodin’s conviction, the inter-parliamentary format is the best platform for joint legislative regulation of a number of spheres, including the fight against terrorism. The Speaker of the RF FA State Duma expressed satisfaction that after the pandemic, there an opportunity was given to say farewell to online contacts and meet in the traditional way and discuss issues of mutual interest.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of Armenian-Russian cooperation in the CIS Inter-parliamentary, the CSTO and BSEC Parliamentary Assemblies and other international platforms.

The already traditional practice of holding regular joint meetings of the profile Standing Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly and the Standing Committees of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation was highlighted.

The colleagues discussed some details of today’s meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, expressing hope that the meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly will have its contribution and give a new impetus to the prospects of expanding cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly.
