Mirzoyan: OSCE states acknowledge Minsk Group role in Karabakh talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Most OSCE states have stressed the need to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through negotiations within the Minsk Group co-chairmanship, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in parliament on Monday, June 6.

Mirzoyan said such an opinion was expressed during the annual OSCE Ministerial Conference in Stockholm last year. According to him, the key priority of the Armenian foreign policy remains the ensuring of the security of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), as well as the political settlement of the conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

Mirzoyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, as well as Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham ALiyev have met on numerous occasions since the end of hostilities in fall 2020.

The Second Karabakh war lasted 44 days and ended when Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev signed a ceasefire statement on November 9, 2020. Under the deal, the Armenian side returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
