Armenian President credits Putin for "peace" in region

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has credited Russian President Vladimir Putin for the "peace" in the region.

Khachaturyan delivered remarks on Friday, June 10 when he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

"You are always a welcome guest for Armenia, for the people of Armenia," Khachaturyan told Lavrov in the presidential residence.

"We know your role, especially in recent periods and times for Armenia, and I am sure that the people of Armenia appreciate your work, because the fact that we now live in peace is thanks to your efforts and the efforts of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin."

According to a statement from the President' office, Khachaturian and Lavrov then weighed in on issues related to the agenda and development of the Armenian-Russian allied relations, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and regional security.

Lavrov earlier met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
