Armenia raises lack of CSTO response to Azerbaijan's incursion

The question of Azerbaijan's incursion into the sovereign territory of Armenia, which began in May 2021, still remains open, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told reporters following the meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers on Friday, June 5.

Mirzoyan reminded, however, that the Organization promptly responded to the events in Kazakhstan in January. According to him, the Foreign Ministers weighed in on issues of improving the CSTO crisis response mechanisms, which, as you know, is a priority for the Armenian chairmanship in the CSTO.

"We also reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the level of heads of state, the implementation of the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council session held in September last year, and the priorities of the Armenian chairmanship," Mirzoyan added.

"I want to emphasize that Armenia has been and remains committed to active and proactive interaction within the CSTO, is aimed at building up cooperation between member states, including the development of foreign policy coordination within the Organization, as well as enhancing the role of the CSTO in the international arena."
