Russia says supports Armenia in ensuring regional security

PanARMENIAN.Net - Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev has said that Armenia is Russia's strategic partner and that Moscow supports Armenia in ensuring regional security.

Patrushev made the remarks at a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Armen Grigoryan in Yerevan on Thursday, June 16.

Grigoryan expressed confidence that there are all the necessary opportunities and preconditions to expand the scope of cooperation between the offices of the Security Council of the two countries.

The two then weighed in on a wide range of security issues within bilateral cooperation. Grigoryan briefed his Russian counterpart on the regional security situation, the Armenian-Azerbaijani border situation, the work of the demarcation and border security commissions, as well as the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.

The meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO member states has kicked off in Yerevan.
