Azerbaijan hiding information about Armenian captives from ICRC

PanARMENIAN.Net - Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have not been able to contact persons captured by Azerbaijan during Baku's latest military aggression against Armenia, Communications Manager and Spokesperson for the ICRC's Armenian office Zara Amatuni has said, according to Pastinfo.

"Azerbaijan has not yet confirmed the information we have transferred. And until the detaining party, i.e. Azerbaijan, confirms that it has captured and is holding said persons, we have to wait," Amatuni said Tuesday, September 20.

"Of course, we maintain communication with the authorities of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. We have also obtained information from families about the possible capture of their loved ones."

Amatuni said the families will be notified as soon as the organization receives confirmation from Azerbaijan.

The Security Council of Armenia issued a statement on Monday and said that at least 20 Armenian servicemen were captured by Azerbaijan in the latest round of fighting launched by Baku in the wee hours of September 13. At least two Armenian soldiers have been murdered in captivity.
