Armenia exprted $879M worth of agricultural produce in Jan-Sep

Agricultural produce worth $879 million were exported from Armenia in the first nine months of 2022, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said in parliament during budget discussions on Thursday, November 7.

Kerobyan maintained such fogures were expected for 2028, Sputnik Armenia reports.

According to official statistics, however, agriculture registered a 0.7% decline in January-September. Kerobyan explained the discrepancy with flaws in statistics.

“Following our discussions with the Statistical Committee, we came to the conclusion that for accurate calculations, we need to have a law on agriculture, start registering farms everywhere, and ensure that they submit data on turnover. Now we only have estimates, and not real statistics," the minister said.

The Minister said that the law on agriculture is planned to be adopted in 2023, with the Statistical Committee set to clarify the number of farms, their property and condition.
