Azerbaijanis use violence to injure Armenian youths in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Members of an Azerbaijani military convoy accompanied by Russian peacekeepers used violence to injure several young Armenian people when passing through the village of Getavan in Nagorno-Karabakh, the country’s Internal Ministry said in a statement.

On December 4, when the convoy was forced to make a stop due to technical issues, four passengers in civilian clothing left the convoy and showed provocative behavior towards the Armenian youth, which then escalated into a quarrel.

When said Azerbaijanis resorted to violence, the skirmish was joined by the drivers of the cargo vehicles from the rest of the convoy, the young Armenians ending up with bodily injuries.

According to the authorities of Karabakh, the Azerbaijanis involved in the provocation were officers of the armed forces and the military police of Azerbaijan, whereas the Russian peacekeeping force was supposed to allow and facilitate the transfer of the Azerbaijani only for humanitarian purposes.

On December 3, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothing blocked the highway connecting Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh, citing "environmental reasons", the Official Infocenter of Karabakh reported. The Karabakh authorities and the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Karabakh managed to unblock the road after three hours of negotiations.
