"Fight for freedom not over": Karabakh marks Constitution Day

The fight for the complete freedom of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) is not over, there is no turning back, President of National Assembly Artur Tovmasyan said in his message on the International Human Rights Day, Karabakh's Independence Referendum and Constitution Day on Saturday, December 10.

"Throughout the world, December 10 is marked as the International Human Rights Day," Tovmasyan said.

"It's been more than 3 decades that December 10 is celebrated in Artsakh also as the day of the referendum on independence and the NKR Constitution. On this day in 1991, the people of Artsakh expressed their will and dedication to have an independent state through the NKR independence referendum, and on the same day in 2006, they accepted the NKR Constitution with the willingness to create a democratic and lawful country."

Tovmasyan said the Human Rights Day was not chosen by chance.

"The Artsakh movement, the birth and existence of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic are an inseparable part of human rights, fundamental principles, the equality of peoples and their right to self-determination," he added.

"The fight to restore the full freedom of Artsakh and the violated rights of our people is not over, it is still going on. There is no turning back from the path we have chosen, it is righteous and sanctified by the blood of our heroic martyrs."
