April 18: International Day for Monuments and Sites

PanARMENIAN.Net - The International Day for Monuments and Sites was created Apr. 18, 1982, by ICOMOS and later approved at the 22nd UNESCO General Conference in 1983. This special day offers an opportunity to raise public's awareness concerning the diversity of the world's heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as to draw attention to its vulnerability.



The year 2009 was officially announced as International Year of Astrophysics, celebrated under the motto "Heritage and Science".



RA Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with ICOMOS Social Organization, will host a number of events: "Armenia: Country of Ancient Astrophysics" photo exhibition, "Secret of Metsamor" documentary screening and presentation of collected articles, entitled "Preservation of Armenia's Cultural Heritage in and outside the country".
