Armenia, Britain discuss security situation in South Caucasus![]() December 16, 2022 - 15:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Wednesday December 14 met with Lord Tariq Ahmad, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and United Nations in New York. Mirzoyan weighed in on the security situation in the South Caucasus, as well as the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the latest developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Armenian diplomat presented the consequences of Azerbaijan’s blocking of traffic along the Lachin corridor and cutting off gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing that karabakh is facing a threat of a humanitarian crisis, and if the situation, if not resolved, will lead to a catastrophe. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia stressed that the actions of the leadership of Azerbaijan, the militant rhetoric and the maximalist approach seriously threaten the possibility of achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus. Mirzoyan and Ahmad also discussed the possibilities of developing bilateral relations. For several days now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists.
