Pashinyan reminds Aliyev signed under document mentioning Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has weighed in on Azerbaijan’s narrative that no Nagorno Karabakh exists, reminding that Nagorno Karabakh is mentioned in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and that said statement was signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Pashinyan on Saturday, February 18 took part in the panel discussion on South Caucasus issues in the sidelines of the Munich Conference headlined “Moving Mountains? Building Security in the South Caucasus.” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Aliyev and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid also took part in the discussion.

The Armenian PM added that the Lachin Corridor connecting Karabakh to Armenia was supposed to operate freely.

“By the way, according to that trilateral declaration, the Lachin Corridor was supposed to be outside the control of Azerbaijan, and this was according to the signature of the President of Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said.

“Recently, a group of Armenian children from Nagorno-Karabakh tried to travel through the Lachin Corridor and were stopped. Some masked Azerbaijanis broke into the bus, and the children were screaming. This was the last attempt of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to move freely through the Lachin Corridor.”

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
