France acknowledges Azerbaijan’s attack on Karabakh

The French Foreign Ministry has acknowledged that it was Azerbaijan that launched an attack against Nagorno Karabakh, which left three Armenian police officers killed.

“We mourn the casualties caused by this serious incident on March 5, when a vehicle carrying police officers traveling near the Lachin Corridor was targeted by Azerbaijani forces in the area under the responsibility of Russian peacekeeping forces,” the French diplomacy said in remarks published on Monday, March 6.

“It is important that all the light be shed on the facts. We also call for strict respect for the ceasefire.”

Three Karabakh police officers were killed and another wounded in an Azerbaijani armed attack on Sunday, March 5. They were ambushed by an Azerbaijani “sabotage squad” as they rode in a car outside Stepanakert.

Later in the day, the Armenia Foreign Ministry condemned Azerbaijan’s deadly shootings in Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) as an act of “terrorism” which it said was “preplanned and ordered by Azerbaijan’s supreme leadership.”
