Catholicos, Iraqi MPs discuss Armenia’s territorial integrityMarch 18, 2023 - 12:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II has discussed Armenia’s territorial integrity with the delegation of the Iraq-Armenia Friendship Group of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq, headed by Mօhammed Siddik Mohammed. At the meeting, His Holiness emphasized that the delegation’s visit to Armenia is the best evidence of friendly and warm relations between the two peoples with centuries-old history. The Armenian Patriarch noted with satisfaction that relations between the two countries are developing, and similar visits will contribute to the strengthening of interstate ties. Turning to the Armenian community of Iraq, the Catholicos of All Armenians noted that the latter also makes an important contribution to the deepening of Armenian-Iraqi relations. His Holiness also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Iraqi authorities for their caring attitude towards the Armenian community and its spiritual life. The Armenian Patriarch noted the importance of inter-religious dialogue in terms of strengthening the between the two peoples and the peaceful coexistence of the nations. At the meeting, the current challenges in the region, Azerbaijan's encroachments against Armenia's territorial integrity and the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) were also discussed.
