Armenia’s Gor Sahakyan becomes European weightlifting champion

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Gor Sahakyan snatched the title of European weightlifting champion and won a gold medal on Monday, April 17 during the championships currently underway being held in Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports Complex.

The 19-year-old Sahakyan won the gold medal in the 67kg weight category, lifting a total of 340 kilograms above his head.

Spain’s Juan Hernandez came in second while Karan Kahriman of Turkey followed in the third spot.

On Sunday, Isabella Yailyan, also representing Armenia, brought in Armenia’s first medal of the competition, winning a gold medal in the competition. Her fellow teammate Alexandra Grigoryan came in sixth place.
