PanARMENIAN.Net - Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Fan Yong believes there are great prospects for the development of Armenian-Chinese relations, and work is currently underway on new areas of cooperation, Sputnik Armenia reports.

"China's development is not only the achievements of the country itself, but also the creation of new opportunities for other countries, including Armenia," the ambassador said.

According to him, the parties are working to expand partnership in new areas, which will make it possible to further deepen bilateral cooperation. Among the new directions is capacity building in the field of high technologies. He believes that this will be an incentive for the development of the Armenian state, and Beijing will always be close to Yerevan.

The Ambassador also hopes that more Chinese companies will soon be willing to invest in the Armenian economy.

Since 2009 China has been Armenia's second largest trade partner. In 2022, trade turnover between the countries increased by 39.4%, reaching $1.758 billion. Both countries are involved in the implementation of projects such as the construction of the North-South Transport Corridor, the transformation of substations, the construction of photovoltaic power plants, etc.
