Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen believes there must be political and economic consequences for Azerbaijan’s “worrying escalation.”

Azerbaijani authorities on Sunday set up a checkpoint on the only road connecting the Karabakh with Armenia. Baku also maintained that they have informed the command of the Russian peacekeepers and the Russian-Turkish monitoring center about the installment of the checkpoint.

“Worrying escalation by Azerbaijan,” Rasmussen wrote on Twitter.

“If Baku continues to flout its international commitments and biding court orders from the [International Court of Justice], there must be political and economic consequences.”
