Armenia OKs Russian consulate in country’s south

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has responded positively to the proposal to open a Russian consulate in the city of Kapan, Syunik province, the press service of the Foreign Ministry has said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

"Armenia informed the Russian side about its consent back in April," the Foreign Ministry added.

On Sunday. May 28, the Deputy Director of the 4th Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Paltov announced the opening of a Russian Consulate in Syunik during the Armenian-Russian expert round table in Moscow.

He also said that it was decided not to go through lengthy state procedures in the process of creating the consulate, which would require at least a year, but to follow a simplified path.
