Armenia expects Azerbaijan to publicly recognizes its territorial integrity

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia expects Azerbaijan to publicly confirm that it recognizes the territorial integrity of Armenia with an area of 29,800 square kilometers, otherwise Armenia will continue to worry about Azerbaijan's territorial claims against Armenia, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in parliament on Monday, June 5.

Mirzoyan noted that the President of Azerbaijan did not publicly recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia with an area of 29,800 square kilometers, but the meeting with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan ended with a statement by the President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, which stated that the countries recognize each other's territorial integrity, which stipulated and the area of the territories of the two countries.

“And after that, there were no denials from Azerbaijan. The same thing happened during the following meetings. And I hope that it is with these words that the leadership of Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of Armenia. Naturally, Azerbaijan does not object, insisting that it recognizes the territorial integrity of Armenia. The mention of these figures was an additional clarification mechanism. Azerbaijan does not deny this, but public confirmation is also necessary. Otherwise, Armenia will continue to worry about Azerbaijan's territorial claims against Armenia,” Mirzoyan said.

In this context, the Foreign Minister recalled the invasion of Azerbaijan into Armenia in September 2022, as well as the previous invasions and the recent incident in the village of Teh.

After four hours of Armenian-Azerbaijani talks in Brussels, President of the European Council Charles Michel declared that Armenia and Azerbaijan have confirmed the recognition of each other's territorial integrity. A few days later, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that he recognizes 86,600 square kilometers of Azerbaijani territory, which includes the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
