RA President: Karabakh was never mentioned in talks with Turkey
The statement issued recently by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Turkey is the result of efforts for normalization of relations between the two countries, Armenian President said.

"In the foreseeable future we will make public the document signed. And I am confident that it will be approved by our people," Serzh Sargsyan said during a meeting of the RA National Security Council. "Our approach is clear: there should be no closed borders in the 21st century."

As to the Karabakh conflict, President Sargsyan said, "I would like to repeat the Karabakh issue was never discussed during talks with Turkey. Improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations may have positive impact on the conflict resolution but it can't be a prerequisite."

He also opposed the opinion that signature of the Armenian-Turkish agreement on road map will hamper the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
