In UN speech, Argentine President slams Azerbaijan’s attack on Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Argentina’s leader Alberto Fernandez has called on the international community to respond to Azerbaijan’s latest offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh. “While this assembly is being held, in the news we read that Azerbaijan has started military operations with the goal of taking control of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he told the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, September 19. “The international community cannot remain indifferent to this reality. It must react preventively to avoid new ethnic, racial, religious or political persecution,” he added. Fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) continued into the night and the morning of Wednesday, September 20 after Azerbaijan launched a fresh offensive against the Armenians of Karabakh, also targeting civilian infrastructure. The Defense Army of Nagorno-Karabakh said on Wednesday morning that fighting continues along the line of contact, with Azerbaijanis trying to occupy Armenian positions. According to the Defense Army, the Armenian troops fight back. Hundreds of people have been injured, dozens, including at least seven civilians, have been killed in Azerbaijan’s aggression.
