Erdogan, Aliyev to inaugurate modernised military installation in Nakhijevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday, September 25 to inaugurate a newly modernised military installation in Nakhijevan - a strip of Azerbaijani territory nestled among Armenia, Iran and Turkey, Reuters reports.

The trip comes as thousands of Armenians are forced to flee Nagorno-Karabakh after a fill-scale military operation unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19.

The Turkish presidency said Erdogan and Aliyev will discuss the situation in Karabakh region.

On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a full-scale offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, killings and injuring hundreds, including civilians. On September 20, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire on Azerbaijan’s terms, including the dissolution of the Defense Army. So 3000 displaced residents have already fled Nagorno-Karabakh and reached Armenia.
