Erdogan, Aliyev to inaugurate modernised military installation in Nakhijevan![]() September 25, 2023 - 13:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday, September 25 to inaugurate a newly modernised military installation in Nakhijevan - a strip of Azerbaijani territory nestled among Armenia, Iran and Turkey, Reuters reports. The trip comes as thousands of Armenians are forced to flee Nagorno-Karabakh after a fill-scale military operation unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19. The Turkish presidency said Erdogan and Aliyev will discuss the situation in Karabakh region. On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a full-scale offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, killings and injuring hundreds, including civilians. On September 20, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire on Azerbaijan’s terms, including the dissolution of the Defense Army. So 3000 displaced residents have already fled Nagorno-Karabakh and reached Armenia. ![]() ![]() Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. In 2023, the Azerbaijani government will increase the country’s defense budget by more than 1.1 billion manats ($650 million). Across a swathe of southern Turkey, people sought temporary shelter and food in freezing winter weather.
