Elen Asatryan elected Glendale mayor

PanARMENIAN.Net - Elen Asatryan has been elected Mayor of Glendale by its City Council, the East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD) reports (via Horizon Weekly).

In 2022, she earned the most votes ever by a 1st-time woman candidate for the City Council.

“Tonight she becomes the 1st Armenian American woman ever to serve as mayor in the 4th largest city in L.A. County and city with the highest percentage of immigrant residents, at 50 percent, of any in California,” the EAPD said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Nothing significant comes easily. This win required teamwork and perseverance. We thank Councilmembers Ardy Kassakhian and outgoing mayor Dan Brotman for doing the right thing,” it added.
