New charitable initiative to collect books starts in Yerevan
Several schools from Alaverdi community of Armenia's Lori region applied to the local office of the "World Vision" with request to help in completing the libraries of the region with books. Yerevan Library after Avetik Isahakian and Armenian's Writers' Union joined the initiative. The Started on May 13 the charitable campaign will continue by June 8.

The list of books, which are in brisk demand in Lori libraries, comprises of more than hundred of names of Armenian and Foreign Literature classics, who are at the core of school curriculum. Within three weeks organizers will address libraries and publishing houses across Armenia to support in collecting necessary books.

"Other Armenian libraries also need those books. We hope to pioneer embracing activities aimed at completing library funds in Armenia", said Asmik Karapetyan, director of the Yerevan Library named after Avetik Isahakian. "We must create all conditions for reading first, and only after that expect from the youth love toward books, " she said.

On May 20 literature musical evening will be organized at the library with the aim to attract attention of publishers and promote republishing works included in the school curriculum.

In the fringes of this initiative by June 8 all interested individuals can take part in the charitable gathering of books, which will be passed to the libraries of Lori .
