Pashinyan offers to sign select peace treaty clauses by COP29September 26, 2024 - 16:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that Armenia has proposed to sign the peace treaty articles that have already bee agreed with Azerbaijan before the COP29 in Baku. Pashinyan said at discussion titled "Leadership for Peace” on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN Genral Assembly that the move would create a conducive environment to move forward the peace process. Pashinyan noted that his government’s The Crossroads of Peace initiative aims at unlocking the economic potential of the region and strengthening economic and cultural ties, thus contributing to the political dialogue and achievement of a comprehensive peace for the benefit of all peoples. “We stand ready to use the positive momentum and continue the border delimitation process on the basis of the agreement between our border delimitation commissions based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991,”he said (via Armenpress). “A strong and unequivocal support by the United Nations to the efforts of Armenia to achieve just and durable peace in the region is crucial.” Top stories Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
