Cavosuglu: Armenia should respond positively to Azerbaijan's proposals

PanARMENIAN.Net - Former Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu believes Armenia should respond positively to Azerbaijan's proposals for peace in the region., Azerbaijani media report.

Cavosuglu made the remarks in his speech at an Azerbaijan-hosted conference on the “right” to return of Azerbaijanis to Armenia.

“We could turn the South Caucasus into the region of peace,” said the former Foreign Minister who is currently a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

In the Second Karabakh War launched by Azerbaijan, the Turkish armed forces supported Azerbaijan militarily, also by transferring terrorist mercenaries from Libya and Syria to fight against Karabakh. In September 2023, Azerbaijan launched another offensive, forcibly displacing the entire indigenous Armenian population of Karabakh, having starved the population for months before that. In a recent report, Freedom House and partners found that Azerbaijani authorities waged a deliberate campaign to empty Nagorno-Karabakh of its ethnic Armenian population.
