Bayramov slams U.S. position as "bias"

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan expects practical steps from Armenia to eliminate “territorial claims embedded in Armenia’s Constitution and certain legislative acts,” according to Haqqin.az .

“The Azerbaijani public is aware that, beyond the text of the peace agreement, there exists another serious and unresolved issue. These are the territorial claims against our country, enshrined in Armenia’s Constitution and other normative acts. We hear declarations and calls for peace, but we observe a clear lack of real action,” he said.

Addressing the recently signed strategic partnership agreement between Armenia and the U.S., Bayramov accused the outgoing U.S. administration of showing bias in favor of Armenia.

According to Bayramov, “biased actions” by countries mediating the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations are unacceptable, as reported by Minval.az .

“I would prefer not to comment on the relations between the two countries. However, the United States has demonstrated support for Armenia. Such actions are unacceptable for a mediator attempting to adopt a balanced stance. Bias is unacceptable, and we have seen it in the steps taken by the U.S. Democratic administration,” Bayramov said.

*On January 14, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a strategic partnership document in Washington, strengthening bilateral cooperation.

During the signing ceremony, Blinken stated that a U.S. team specializing in customs and border security would travel to Armenia in the coming weeks to work with Armenian partners on enhancing border security capabilities.*
