Yerevan dismisses claims of fire on Azerbaijani positions

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has denied the latest disinformation from Baku. It stated that Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense falsely claimed that from the evening of April 6 to 04:30 on April 7, Armenian Armed Forces allegedly opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in the eastern and southeastern sections of the border. The Armenian Defense Ministry emphasized that this information does not reflect reality.

The ministry reminded that the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia had proposed creating a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations or related reports. To date, Azerbaijan has not responded to this initiative.

Reaffirming its commitment to this proposal, the Ministry of Defense stated it remains ready to investigate any evidence Azerbaijan can provide to support its claims—if such evidence is formally submitted to Armenia.

Earlier, in response to reports of Azerbaijani fire on Armenian positions and villages, the Ministry told RFE/RL it only reports targeted gunfire, not random shots.
