Armenian competition authority launches major consumer protection reforms

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Competition Protection Commission (CPC) has published its 2024 activity report.

The past year was marked by greater administrative efficiency, with a rise in both detected violations and the volume of fines imposed. As of 2024, the total amount of fines exceeded 3 billion drams, a record in the CPC’s more than 20-year history, reports 1lurer.am .

"2024 was a pivotal year for the commission, especially considering the extensive legislative initiatives in consumer rights protection, through which the commission will be granted central authority in this area," CPC Chairman Gegham Gevorgyan said in his address.

The report presents, in separate sections, the main activities conducted in the field of competition protection during 2024, including statistical data, key proceedings, initiatives aimed at developing the competitive environment, sectoral analyses conducted across five product markets, court decisions on CPC rulings, legislative changes and administrative actions in consumer protection, as well as efforts to strengthen the commission’s institutional capacities and its main priorities for 2025.
