In 2009-2010 WB plans to implement a number of programs on small and medium-sized business support in Armenia
Today Yerevan hosted the 3rd annual conference entitled "Development of rural communities in RA", organized with the assistance of American University of Armenia. The project aimed at presenting programs, issues and possibilities of agriculture development in Armenia in 2008-2009.

The experts presented educational and healthcare projects aimed at the development of communities.

Head rapporteur, WB Armenia Director Aristomene Varudakis said at the conference, "Despite the crisis, RA government continues implementation of social programs. World Bank in collaboration with Government, plans a number of new programs on small and medium-sized business development, construction of rural roads and irrigation systems. Our program aims to support farmers, rural businessmen and communities. Credit program is being implemented. 100 credits were provided to 140 communities within program framework. USD 60 million were allocated for 250 km of rural roads repair, so that farm products could be transported to markets," WB Armenia director noted.
