Macron, Pashinyan discuss peace and EU ties in Tirana

PanARMENIAN.Net - French President Emmanuel Macron and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in Tirana, Albania, emphasizing the ongoing development of Armenian-French relations. Both leaders noted that high-level contacts and constructive political dialogue have contributed to expanding cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.

The discussion particularly highlighted the importance of signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with a call for consistent and determined steps to achieve it.

Macron stated, “France is firmly committed to supporting the peace process, emphasizing that stability and security in the South Caucasus are essential for broader regional cooperation.”

The two leaders also reviewed various aspects of the bilateral agenda and discussed regional and international developments.

They addressed the future of Armenia–European Union relations and the continuation of democratic reforms in Armenia.

On March 13, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals regarding two previously uncoordinated articles and that the peace agreement was ready for signing. Yerevan expressed readiness to start consultations on the timing and venue. However, Baku introduced new preconditions and said it was premature to discuss dates.
